Health Benefits of Juicing

We recently received a juicer as a wedding present and I am anxious to explore all the possibilities! Here’s a juice I’ve made several times from Dr. Oz’s 48 hour weekend cleanse.

Kale, Pineapple and Ginger Detox Drink

Ingredients (Makes 4 Servings; Drink Throughout the Day)

1/2 cup pineapple

2 large cucumbers

1 bunch kale without stems (4 cups chopped)

1/2 lemon, squeezed

1/4 inch of ginger

1 bunch of mint (1/2 cup)

Directions

Combine all ingredients and blend in juicer.

*If you don’t have a juicer, you can use a high speed blender and squeeze the blend through a nut milk bag.  This is the same method used for making almond milk. The bags are the same as fine mesh produce bags or pantyhose.  You might need to add a bit more water to the blend to get more juice out.

It has a tangy yet refreshing taste from the lemon and cucumber/mint combo with a sweet finish from the pineapple.

Quite yummy!

Kris Carr and Dr. Oz enjoying green drinks

Kris Carr of Crazy Sexy Life, discovered the benefits of juicing when diagnosed with stage IV cancer- she had no other alternative treatments available to her.  Nearly 10 years later she is feeling better than she ever did even pre-cancer.  Check out more of her story and juicing recipes in her e-guide.

Here are just a few benefits of juicing that Kris mentions:

“Say hello to boundless energy, glowing skin, clear eyes, improved digestion and exceptional health and happiness. Say goodbye to toxins, excess weight, sugar cravings, addictions, premature aging and a lackluster appearance.”

The proof is in the juice!

About Lauren Lear

Virginian to Mainiac, I moved to Maine for a photo internship with Aurora Photos and stayed because I met the man I would marry after winking at him on Match.com. My photo business, Lola Studios, is where I pursue my love of fantasy photography using makeup and props to create alternate realities for my clients. I started this blog a little over a year ago to share the wedding prep, diy, food, and family experiences that I had. To bring you up to speed, my husband Alex and I bought a home, got married, went on our honeymoon, hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas back to back (never again ;) ), I turned 30 (never again :( ), we went to London to celebrate our first married year, and we got a puppy, Walter! That’s about it! I hope you’ll join me to see what unfolds next. Enjoy!
